“Prepare for a Miracle”: Using Hopeful Action as an Anchor in Dire Times
Growing up, I was blessed to witness my Father’s unwavering commitment and advocacy for those left behind by family, society, institutions, and government systems. His wisdom, guidance, and example of faith continue to inspire me. In 2022, amidst heartbreaking circumstances, he shared a piece of advice that has become a grounding reference in my life: “Prepare for a Miracle.”
Breaking down the essence of my Father’s words, I knew that preparing for a miracle wasn’t about passively hoping for a miraculous intervention. It was about summoning the courage to take proactive steps towards the best possible outcome, even when the odds seemed insurmountable. Here’s what I found after heeding his advice:
Choosing hopeful action became a conscious decision. Every day, a decision was made to step out of the default reality of despair in order to discover who I needed to be to move forward.
Surrendering to the uncertainty of outcomes and timing was a profound exercise for resilience. It meant choosing hope despite the possibility of disappointment, and finding freedom in accepting whatever may come.
Staying committed to hope, even when relief seemed distant, was essential. Dedication teaches us, through personal trial and error, what works to sustain us and what doesn’t.
Staying aligned with my authentic self was an invaluable practice for sustainability. Alignment and sustainability can come from finding moments of laughter and joy, connecting to community for support, visualizing beautiful places, and prioritizing self-care and nutritious meals.
My wish is that hopeful action will serve as an anchor for the collective as we strive to create a better future and a better way. Hope is a beautifully resilient force that can persist until the very end. By embracing hopeful action, we invite the possibility of unforeseen victories, allowing the miracle to manifest within us and through us.
May we persist in walking the path of hope, recognizing that even amidst the lowest of times, the reality of a new beginning remains.
